HOW TO GROW
Sowing: Direct sow in late fall, pressing into the surface of the soil since this plant needs light to germinate. For spring planting, sow on soil surface and keep the soil lightly moist until germination, which usually takes 14-30 days. The Saponaria Ocymoides seeds can also be started indoors 6-8 weeks before planting in spring. Keep seedlings lightly moist, and transplant them as soon as they have developed several leaves.
Growing: Water seedlings regularly until they become established. This plant grows quickly and needs little care. Mature plants tolerate heat and drought well, as well as thriving in sandy or rocky soils. Cut back the plant periodically to encourage bushier growth. This plant attracts bees and butterflies, and will self-seed unless cut back after flowering has finished. It makes an excellent ground cover, edging plant, or container plant. This plant attracts bees and butterflies.
Harvesting: These blossoms do not perform well as cut flowers, and are best enjoyed outdoors.
Seed Saving: After the flowers fade, small pods will form that eventually open and release their seeds. As soon as the pods open, shake them over a container to remove the seed; watch them carefully to prevent loss, since the seeds can easily be blown away by the wind. Store the Saponaria Ocymoides seeds in a cool, dry place.

Good germination rate
Planted soapwort seeds in the spring of 2024 and the germination rate has been good. Look forward to flowers next year. I've been replacing wood mulch around my established shrubs with "living mulch," and this soapwort fills the bill. I'm also using soapwort to overplant spring flowering bulbs.
Soapwort
Love these! Planted this spring and they really took off. Will plant even more this fall. This is an easy to grow answer for anyone looking to replace wood mulch with living mulch.
Great service
Delivery was fast, fast, fast! I really like the packaging; it keeps the seeds in better condition. I'm eager to see the germination rate.
Great packaging
I haven't planted them yet, but the packaging is immaculate.
Quick
The seeds came quickly and were packaged well. I planted several in a large container that had soapwort in it for many years, that died off. There are several already sprouting, so I'm happy with the product and the company.
This packaging is…interesting
1-Star just for the wicked fast shipping! I just received these seeds so this review is not about the germination, growth, etc. I do not like the ridiculous plastic seed packaging at all. Allegedly the plastic bags keep the seeds viable for longer. Why would I care about that? Don't we all already have plastic containers we can upcycle to store seeds? Why would any company think I'd want more wasteful plastic bags is beyond me. I did not expect a seed company to use plastic packaging that is neither compostable nor recyclable. I'll wait and see how the seeds do before I determine if I'd buy from Everwilde again. Right now, I'm just bemused and a bit annoyed by all the plastic :(.
Hello, I'm sorry the packaging did not meet your expectations. While the packaging is not biodegradable, we believe seeds are a precious resource and our resealable mylar packets ensure that you can conveniently store your seeds for your years with all the instructions intact. If you harvest seeds from the heirloom vegetables that you grow, please reuse this packaging to store your new seeds!
Beautiful!
I love this pretty trailing flower on my rockery. It seeds itself into the nooks and crannies and forms a lovely mass. The seeds come packaged in a Mylar envelope to keep them fresh and ensure good germination.
