HOW TO GROW
Sowing: Direct sow in late fall, pressing into the surface of the soil. For spring planting, mix the purpletop vervain seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination, which usually takes place within 14-30 days.
Growing: Water seedlings regularly until they become established. Though they flourish with occasional watering in especially dry weather, mature plants tolerate some drought in addition to growing in poor soil. Deadhead to prolong blooming. This plant may self-seed to the point of weediness, and is extremely attractive to butterflies and bees. It makes an excellent choice for a border plant.
Harvesting: For cut flowers, choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level, and place in water immediately.
Seed Saving: As soon as the flowers fade, watch the seed heads carefully since the tiny seed can easily blow away in the wind. Shake the seed heads over a container to remove the ripe seed; repeat until all the seed has ripened. Store the cleaned purpletop vervain seed in a cool, dry place.

The seeds look great and the packaging was very nice! Thank you so much ....
USDA Zone 5
Beautiful blooms that attracted butterflies and have re-seeded themselves in my garden beds. I was able to grow these easily from seed indoors and as well using the winter sowing method.
Flower seeds
Not planted yet. Still in stratification. What I like is that your instructions on the packaging are so clear. And when I asked for advise on planting, you were very helpful. Intend to buy all future seeds from you only.

Supposed to be butterfly magnet
I purchased these because I am planting some new butterfly/hummingbird beds. This plant is supposed to be highly attractive to butters. I have never planted this before. I am hoping I am succesful, so I can look forward to more year after year.

My local botanical garden in central Illinois had these growing this summer, fantastic plant for drawing in many different types of pollinators. The workers reported that it will reseed itself..sometimes pop'n up in different areas around the garden. They had a low growing zinnias planted in front..good combo.
