HOW TO GROW
Sowing: Sow Malcolmia Maritima seeds as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. Plant just below the surface of the soil and keep moist until germination, which usually occurs within 10-15 days at 60-65 degrees F. For continuous blooming, plant a new crop every 4 weeks. In mild climates, sow in late fall for early spring blooms.
Growing: Water seedlings regularly until they become established, and control weeds. Mature plants are fairly drought tolerant, but also appreciate watering in dry weather. The Virginia Stock plant makes an attractive ground cover and is an excellent choice for small, shallow spaces.
Harvesting: These blossoms do not perform well as cut flowers, and are best enjoyed outdoors.
Seed Saving: After the flower fades, slender seed ponds will develop. As soon as the pods begin to dry out, collect them and remove the Malcolmia Maritima seeds. Store the Virginia Stock flower seeds in a cool, dry place.

Fragrant gems
The price at Everwilde was a delight. The seed quality and freshness inside the mylar package made me a believer.
Virginia Stock has a fabulous aroma. My bees and all of the butterflies are on the plants from dawn to dusk on sunny days. There are not photos to do this small plant justice. Buy more than you think that you will need.
The effect in wide drifts is dramatic. Any tucked in corner, fenceline, side of the house or patch in the driveway will do. A previously dull zone will be a highlight with Virginia stocks.
Best floral ground cover
Have not planted the seeds yet, but they arrived very quickly and at a good price. My daughter first planted this flower from a 4" and though it didn't appeal to me from the photo it spread nicely and I was soon in love and had to get for my garden. The flowers seem to change from white to several shades of purple. It is a great filler around your other plants and I can hardly wait for them to start the show. We have mild winters and they carried over. We have amended clay soil and they thrived. We have summer bright shade and they did fine.
